Am I a true mad man as in in totally crazy, or mad as in I've had it and can't take anymore? Let's look and see.
What if all of our military in Korea, Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Japan, everywhere in the world, were brought home? I guess the first problem would be there isn't enough jobs to support them. Could the answer be to keep them active in the military and then build forts and line them up on our borders? Besides the boon of jobs from building the forts we now have troops spending money in those local economies New assignment troops keep anyone from crossing illegally, confiscate any drugs, in general prevent anything that isn't lawful from happening.
Between our troops and FDR's alphabet soup of public work programs start a campaign of rebuilding this countries roads, bridges, dams, levees, airports anything that improves us. What with hurricanes, floods, wild land fire, tornados, draught, we have more than enough "needs" but not the action to address them.
We are willing to send hugh amounts of money to other countries to the point where we borrow money to do it and turn a blind eye to our needs. What would the result be if we didn't give them that money? Well I guess they would just have to take care of themselves and figure a way to continue their lives and country.
Last nights national news had a big deal about a famine in Africa and people dying of starvation. Not sure just how naive we can be but we have people dying here because they don't have the basic needs of living. Can we save the world? Not sure that can done if we don't take care of our own, build a strong country from within, and only help others when our problems are resolved we should be thought of as fools. Remember the Ugly American, well we succeded in changing that to not only ugly, but a source of income (foreign aid to all who ask for it) to being just plain stupid.
