Taking a lcose look at that map, it seems our area is in the White and still not availabe as an optin to us. I've only heard 2 things about satelite internet and it is 1) bad news and 2) worse news. I certainly am after other options other than AT&T, but will wait a while to see how this turns out. If only SucceedNet would work for me (You think anyone would notice if I put my house on 50' stilts?)

Someone recently told me that succeed net was moving out of the foothills altogether because it wasn't profitable. Anyone else confirm or deny? The source was a succeednet employee

I can verify, confirm and guarantee Succeed.Net is not leaving the foothills for any reason. That employee should be tarred and feathered.

Hahaha.......thanks Metalbone for the update. I had forgotten about this thread. I need to give them another call and get my home site tested again.........I think it was over a year ago now and I was just a bit low from a direct line-of-site to the nearest tower at that time. The Tech said they are expanding all the time and may be I would get coverage sooner or later.

Does anyone know if the technology of Succeed is similar to WildBlue?
Also, when I use "quick reply" misspellings are underlined in red, so I'm able to check before I post.

TallTrees: Succeed is VERY different from WildBlue. WildBlue is satellite based at the house.... Succeed is more like a wi-fi network - which is why it's line of site is somewhat limited. They only provide service within a certain radius of the location of their pods. It is much faster, if you can get it.

Thanks Code3. Do you know if it's as fast and reliable as the satellite-based providers? Also, do you know if there are "pods" in the Brownsville/Forbestown area?

I understand it to be significantly faster and more reliable than satellite. Succeed has a website showing a map of their coverage: www.succeed.net

Jenn answered your question there, but as to your mis-spelling being underlined......IE does not do that (which most people use by default). Now, I do have the Google Chrome Browser installed on my home computer/laptops, etc and it does in fact do the underline thing as TallTrees mentions....free download and much faster that IE (just an option for the spelling deal).

WildBlue I hear is as bad as dial up fro speed from my experience, however I have Hughesnet for satelite internet and it is very comparable to DSL. I have the slowest plan and it still works great. They have faster plans but I am not willing to pay that much more for the faster speeds.
