Here's some pretty damning info on Roundup. We lost a gorgeous foal who muched some grass BVID sprayed on a ditchbank years ago. The vet said he thought it was causing birth defects way back then too.

There are always two sides to every story and these types of chemical usage stories will play out for as long as we live. People will believe what they want to believe- which side is using logical, proper and ethical science and who isn't- we will never know....

Monsanto et all would like to make it illegal for us to be able to even grow any of our own food.
Don't be lulled into thinking it won't happen here if they get their way. These are GLOBAL agendas.

There is a public meeting on GMOs (genetically modified organisms) at the Alcouffe Community Center this Thursday, Jan 26 at 6:30. It's on creating a ballot initiative to require GMO food to be labeled. Much of the genetic engineering is to allow plants to survive use of Roundup. Monsanto again! Please see details on meeting on Calendar on this website.

I have watched a company take a product from conception to market. The amount of money and years it took to get through the permits, legal hurdles, and EPA is daunting to say the least. I doubt very seriously Round-Up is as bad as some would have people to believe. Salt is evil too if you use it improperly and it will sterilize the ground too. Bleach can be bad too. The one that cracks me up is the guy that gets fined for throwing old oil on his gravel road for dust control - then the State or County comes out and oils the road or uses large amounts of oil when paving.
Yes, companies are always tinkering with genetics. We always have a choice to buy organic or grow our own.

Yes, people can become alarmed over issues without understanding them. That's why it's important to go online and read pro-and-con posts about Monsanto and its pesticides like Roundup and its genetically modified seeds. Try Googling "Rodale +GMOs" - The Rodale Institute was founded in 1947 and has a respected history of well-balanced reporting.

See what happens when we let the camel shove it's nose under the tent?
First Roundup and now Agent Orange. Roundup has predictably stopped 'working' despite horrendously more massive applications so now they're going to go for even bigger artillery.

    Hi 2Grands,
I just realized I never answered your post. Actually the technology used to make genetically modified organism/transgenic (GMO) plants makes cross pollination with OTHER plants extremely easy- something like 10 times more likely-than in nature. Therefore GMO genetics are spreading like wildfire. monsanto actually attacks those farmers that they infected.A Canadian farmer- just one on a great many- was one of these. You can go to his site if you wish and see what they did to him. You'll have to type it in your browser though as I couldn't get it to link.

Looking at the layers of rules and regulations our government has put on businesses and our farmers, and the chemicals that are restricted or have been removed from the market, I don't just don't agree. There is huge residential use of Round-Up and similar type chemicals. Why aren't we seeing more birth defects and residential foliage dying out? Our government won't let drug companies test new treatments on people that are dying anyway. I don't see chemical companies getting preferential treatment. Rice has been engineered over the years to be easier to harvest for example. The same has been done with fruit so it transports and harvests easier. The American farmer feeds a great many people year after year. We are one of if not the safest country for pesticide use. No farmer want to trash the ground that feeds his family.
Technology and discovery has changed farming; as we learn and technology changes things will be even better. I found this:
"The United States Environmental Protection Agency‎ (EPA) considers glyphosate to be relatively low in toxicity, and without carcinogenic or teratagenic effects. The EPA considered a "worst case" dietary risk model of an individual eating a lifetime of food entirely from glyphosate-sprayed fields, and with residue levels remaining at their maximum levels, and concluded no adverse effects would exist under these conditions".

In my opinion, our government is more interested in social programs that let illegal immigrants gain education and healthcare instead of research and develop of new products, idea, and techniques. I'm glad companies like Monsanto are out there just like I'm glad the drug makers are out there.
I appreciate your view and opinion - we'll have to agree to disagree.

Here's an article explaining a bit more of why GMO is so dangerous not only to our food plants but also how GMO organisms invade cells in our very own guts and force them to make GMO DNA.

Does everyone know that there will be a Ballot Initiative to vote on in November requiring GMO foods to be labeled? We will be starting to collect signatures for the petition to support the Ballet Measure in the next couple of weeks IN OUR AREA (that is all the communities in Yuba County.
Please read the following letter from our local organizers and please contact us if you think you might help.
FROM: THE CALIFORNIA RIGHT TO KNOW GENETICALLY ENGINEERED FOOD ACT
    DOBBINS/OREGON HOUSE VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE

    Hello:

We the D/OH Committee are contacting you at this time regarding the signature drive for the Label-GMOs ballot initiative.

We are in the final stages of preparation for 6 week intensive push to collect at least 850,000 signatures Statewide beginning shortly after February 15 when the Petition Forms will be
received from the Attorney General's Office.

For those of you in our Dobbins/ Oregon House and vicinity communities, we call on you to come on out and support the Ballot Initiative.
We will have signature gathering tables set up at various locations in the communities where you can sign the Petition. Our aim is to collect 2-4 thousand
signatures from registered voters in our regional area.

We are particularly interested in getting a few more volunteers who can actively man a signature collection table.
We will provide training and all materials required for signature collection if you have never done such a thing before.
It is not difficult, it is fun and is a very empowering experience.

We need your help. I repeat we need your help to make the Ballot Initiative a success so we can have the choice to buy or not buy foods that contain genetically engineered substances.
    Please contact us:

    Bryan Dozzi: bryter@succeed.net Telephone: (530) 692-9235

    Janet Marchant: qaqa@digitalpath.net Telephone: (530) 692-9511

    Lew Neal: bemor@inreach.com Telephone: (530) 692-9000

For those you who are outside of our Dobbins/Oregon House area please see www.labelgmos.org for a venue close to you and a contact person for your area if you wish to help the cause
    by becoming a volunteer.

We thank you in advance for your participation in any way you can and look forward to seeing many of you at our tables and as volunteers like ourselves in this grassroots California project.

We will once again lead the USA as Californians in initiating a movement that will sweep the Nation and re-establish safe food for our consumption.

Right now and through to April 18 is the window where we can sign the petition to Label GMOs, and get this measure on the Ballot in November. Call Bryan Dozzi for more information at 530-692-9235. Volunteers are gathering signatures in front of stores and pubic buildings in the foothills and in town, especially on weekends.
Monsanto is a corporate giant with the government in its pocket; last week we saw how the legal system sides with the biotech giants. Follow link for more info.
    Judge Sides with Monsanto

Over the weekend, we received the disappointing news that federal Judge
Naomi Buchwald decided to dismiss the case of family farmers versus the
chemical and biotech seed giant Monsanto. In Organic Seed Growers and Trade
Association (OSGATA) et al v. Monsanto, farmers who grow our food sought,
once and for all, the protection of the U.S. courts from Monsanto's abusive
    patent infringement lawsuits.

In what can only be called a travesty of justice, Judge Buchwald sided with
Monsanto, stating that the farmers overestimated the threat posed by
Monsanto's genetic contamination of their crops. To further show her
contempt, Buchwald added that it "strains credulity" that these farmers, all
of whom have declared the desire to farm without Monsanto's GMO seed, could
"nevertheless find themselves unknowingly" using GMO seed in "significant
quantities" and thus face a potential lawsuit.

Buchwald's ruling was an insult to farmers everywhere and we believe that
her flawed assessment that organic and non-GMO farmers have merely imagined
the very real threat by Monsanto, who has aggressively pursued lawsuits for
patent infringement against family farmers since 1997, entirely diminishes
the great lengths that the seed and biotech giant has asserted to instill a
climate of fear among rural America and farming communities during the past
    15 years.

Judge Buchwald ruling wholly fails to take into account the significant
economic harm and loss of livelihood that genetic contamination by
Monsanto's uncontrollable seed technologies inflicts on farmers' legitimate
right to grow food that they choose without the biologically certainty of
    eventual contamination.

"Judge Sides With Monsanto: Ridicules Farmers' Right to Grow Food Without
Fear, Contamination and Economic Harm", Organic Seed Growers and Trade
    Association (OSGATA), February 27, 2012.

GMOs are made by manipulation of extremely deadly viruses & bacteria (such as E. coli) that have been engineered to be IMMUNE TO ANTIBIOTICS (Pause video at 8:08). Monsanto spends millions of dollars each year in order to "sugar" coat the facts of what GMOs actually are and more importantly, how they are made.

This video straight-forwardly explains the scientific facts on how Monsanto manufactures their GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) by simply removing all the corporate propaganda, the "smoke & mirrors" if you will.

All we're asking is for it to be correctly labeled! If it's not such horrible stuff why would anyone even care? Monsatan has spent masses of money to stop people from knowing if what they're eating is a frankenfood or not. People have an absolute right to know what they're buying but we won't if this miscreant corp has it's way-

That stuff is bad period. Get some on your hands and see how it works out for you...

My next statement is not in regard to roundup but the crap in our environment and all the vaccines. The autism rate in this country is now 1 in 75 births the child will have autism. Something is causing that. It should be front page news.

    btward, you are so right!

Though sadly, there is little truth being allowed in the mainstream 'front page news'. Instead it's intention is just to keep our programing intact.(no pun intended)
When that fact finally sinks in and enough people finally wake up and smell the coffee, realize just big the myths they've been fed are,well... Katie bar the door because they aren't going to be a happy lot!
