We got a call lastnight at 9:30 pm. It was a woman who claimed she was with a company called "fix my computer" She said they had recieved a error msg. from our computer while we were on line. My husband had in fact been online earlier. Looking at the time I became suspicious, she asked for my husband by name, and they obviously had our phone number.....but the time thing bugged me and how did they get our his name and phone number through an error msg? I told her I thought it was a bit late for a complimentry technical call and asked for a phone number that I could call her back at. She gave me a number. I called the number back...It did not work.

My husband became worried that they might access our computer and get into our bank account.

I spoke to the bank today and it is a scam.

They want you to go online and press this button and press that button when they tell you. It gives them access to your computer.

There is also some one who pretends to be with Pac-Bell. They say they need to check your line. Please punch in this code or series of numbers. It allows them to make over seas calls and bill it to your line.

    Watch out.

My mom received pretty much the same type of call a couple weeks back. She has never owned a computer so just for the heck of it she asked them which computer had the problem and they said it was her laptop. So needless to say she just hung up the phone. What a bunch of losers.
