The Republicans' new budget plan: Abolish Medicare within 10 ye

They want to eliminate the guarantee of medical care to seniors in America. Their budget plan would replace Medicare with vouchers that seniors would use to pay Big Insurance. And if the vouchers aren't enough to pay for their care—and the Congressional Budget Office says they won't be—too bad.

The plan isn't reform, it's wholesale privatization of Medicare. Their plan abolishes the guarantee of care that defines Medicare.

In fact, by 2030, the CBO estimates the average senior would be paying Big Insurance more than $20,000 each year out of pocket. If they can't afford it, then they won't get care.

And seniors aren't alone—the Republican plan also includes devastating cuts to Medicaid

The plan is so radical that many Republicans won't say whether they support it or not.

We don't know where Rep. Herger stands yet. Can you call him right now and ask to answer a simple question: "Will you oppose the Republican plan to abolish Medicare?" The person you talk to will probably try to dodge the question, but do your best to pin them down. Here's where to call:

    Representative Wally Herger

Something has to change or the programs will run out of money. The estimates of how much of the total US budget these two programs will consume without changes is staggering. Like it or not, the two programs are on a crash course to fail. The proposed changes would not affect current retirees either.

Instead of complaining, what is your solution?

"Instead of complaining, what is your solution?"

Fair as in NO Corporate WELFARE (no oil, farm subsidies as an example), a REASONABLE Tax on those making $5 MILLION or more, and carefully measured controls re: reducing Medicare Fraud/SID fraud/Tax fraud, ..............or a Flat tax, no deductions what so ever plus Value-Added taxes

PS.  Also require that ALL states have an income and property tax structure in place so the rest of us won't have to bail out those states when they are in financial dire straits....

I think you and I could come to an agreement. Too bad our political leaders are corrupt and won't do the same.

There is no good reason for our country to be in debt - trillions in debt. Our leaders are corrupt. From bridges to nowhere to pardoning your friend's kid's murder sentence.
It is obvious we are going to have more retirees than workers in the very near future. Time for changes in our system. Time for stopping hand outs. Medicare, etc is on a destruction course.
I saw a video clip of a senator speaking in Congress showing who we give foreign aid....and it includes China! There are many places to cut wasteful spending. Look at the money wasted in permits, fees, studies just trying to get a bridge, levee, or dam built. Mandated spending in schools that benefit a few - if any. Illegal immigration problems, corrupt prisons, I could go on and on....

All I can say is vote for the person that best represents your beliefs.

"All I can say is vote for the person that best represents your beliefs."

That person was and still is Ron Paul (never his dimwitted son, though!!).

Unfortunately if ever elected Ron Paul may not stay alive for very long as anyone who has tried to change the Federal Reserve has ended up dead....

Here's a thought about hot topics like Green Police
coming to your house, etc.  Truth or Rumor? or Fiction?

When we post something about some law, or proposal, etc.
it might help if we show the wording or section of the law that
we are talking about.  Otherwise we are just passing on some
political writer's views, without any background checking for the
    truth of the statements.
